Morocco, Descent to Azib Tamsoult refuge
Leaving Toubkal valley towards Imlil
Change of plan
Strong winds stopped the plan of going up to the Tizi n'Tadat col and along the ridge so I went up the path directly from the refuge to the Aguelzim north and south peaks
Path zip-zags down steep descent in scree to left of snow patches
Lunch
It was then down to the small Refuge de Tazahart for lunch
I had to wait a short while while about 15 British soldiers finished their lunch
My meal had lots of vegetables and fruit, something my bread and sardine diet of the last few days had been lacking
Refuge de Tazarhart (3,000m)
Waterfalls
The gorge on the way down to the Tamsoult refuge is impressive with the Cascades d'irhoulidene waterfalls
It's a popular destination as it's fairly close to the Refuge Azib Tamsoult
Waterfalls at Cascades d'Irhoulidene
Tallest waterfall at Cascades d'Irhoulidene
Camping area near Refuge Azib Tamsoult
It was almost empty at the Refuge Azib Tamsoult. The facilities were very good
There were two British soldiers who had separated from the ones I'd see at lunchtime. One was suffering from diarrhoea and the other one was keeping an eye on him. I gave them some Imodium and re-hydration sachets as they had run out
Two backpackers arrived and we started to chat about camping equipment before a heavy rain shower started
Map used to make copy that that had been bought from Imlil Guide Office
The weather gradually changed with increasing wind speeds that lasted most of the night.
Second night with little sleep
